Literary Analysis
"Around the World in Eighty Days" was a fantastic book overall. In my opinion, every part of it was well-written and there was nothing I didn't like about the overall plot. The only thing about the book that bothered me was the complexity of some of the words, prompting me to look it up in a dictionary. Even then, I had to read slower than normal because I wouldn't understand the story if I read too fast. But I do understand that the book was written in 1870's, meaning the language used would be different.
The characters in the book had a whole lot of depth to them and I liked them all, even the antagonist, Fix. If I had to choose, my favorite character would be Passepartout, because he's kind of a klutz, but he's very loyal to Phileas. I'm glad that Phileas, Passepartout and Aouda make it back to London in the time allotted. To me, the story felt very realistic. To travel like that is very realistic and I don't think any part of the story was very unlikely. To conclude, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes books in the adventure genre. I don't think I'd ever get bored of this book and I could read it over and over again.
